Sawing through most materials

Our quality-leading saw blades cut through most materials, including stainless steel, hard metals, wood, ice, food and plastic. If you work with other materials, we can design band saw blades specifically for your business-needs. Whatever the material, the result will always be the most economical cut and maximum life length of the blade.

A History going back to 1890

1890

The Hardening Master at one of Sweden’s leading iron works, Lars Håkansson, took out a patent on a new hardening method.
After Lars retired, his son Gustaf took over responsibility for the hardening process at the iron works.

1944

Gustaf Håkansson teamed up with his brother, Bror Håkansson, the founder of Håkanssons Industrier.
A new division was formed, Håkansson Sågblad, specializing in hardened band saw blades with flexible backs.

1946

Gustaf Håkansson was a pioneer in the heat-treatment of band saw blades using high-frequency technology (induction hardening).
He was also active in the development of milling machines for band saw blades.

1974

Håkansson Sågblad opened a new factory in Åmål that provided space for future growth and development.
Two additional factory extensions were nevertheless necessary.

1977

Production of Bi-Metal started. To this day, Håkansson Sågblad is still the sole Swedish manufacturer of band saw blades made of Bi-Metal.

1985

The first extension of the production premises was completed.

2001

The most recent extension – a mobile high-rise store — of the factory was completed.

2019

Håkansson Sågblad celebrates its 75th anniversary.
